Hey, meet your future burger flipper if minimum wage hits $15

Michael Saltsman writes at the Herald about the recent fast-food worker protests and how they’ll probably end up hurting themselves if they get too much of what they want:

In reality, the employees on the picket lines are fighting a war with price-conscious customers. If they get their way with a $15 minimum wage, they will only hasten the service industry’s move toward automation and self-service, where the customer (or even a computer) performs a task that used to be part of an employee’s job description.

Think: Baxter, made by Boston’s very own Rethink Robotics. He may very well be your future burger flipper. He can do it. And he probably will.
